Matrix
Matrix is a chat network. This app runs a Matrix server (Tuwunel) with the Element web app at its hostname.
Settings

| Hostname | The server's address, and its name on the Matrix network: user IDs are @name:<hostname> |
| Registration token | Required to create an account on the server. Share it only with people you want to invite. |
| Federation | Lets users talk to people and join rooms on other Matrix servers. On by default. |
The registration token can be changed with Edit; the new token applies to new registrations.
Do not change the hostname after the server is in use. User IDs and rooms are tied to it, and other Matrix servers do not recognize the server under a new hostname. See Hostname.
First sign-in
- Select Open on the app's card to open Element.
- Create an account, entering the registration token when asked.
Each person who should have an account on the server creates one the same way, with the token.
Apps
Element and Element X are available for desktop and mobile from element.io/download. Sign in with https://<hostname> as the homeserver. On a phone, opening the hostname in a browser leads to the Element X app.
Voice and video calls are not available.
File access
Matrix does not offer file access.
Email
Matrix does not send email.
